My Patreon page is coming

In the midst of increasingly dark and difficult times, I’m kind of excited.

No matter that the timing is lousy. No matter that I’m launching into a cacophony of collapsing economies and desperate rivals and dire, global emergencies–it felt like that to me even before the pandemic. Patreon is a phenomenon–a platform I’ve wanted to join for a while now; I’ve been building this page, on and off, for a year. I’d almost given up on ever getting it to a launch, so it’s kind of comforting to be pushed into it by circumstance. I didn’t think I was ready. I’m not ready. But I may never be, and the Covid-19 pandemic is forcing my (scrupulously washed) hand.

In case you didn’t know, Patreon is a platform that enables artists or, as they call us, “creators”, to get paid directly by their supporters. For as little as a dollar a month, fans and admirers can become patrons, supporting a creator in the production of their work. In return, they get special insights, gifts, discounts, priority booking, and the like, depending on what kind of thing the artist does, and how much the patron pays.

It’s a brilliant system, and I sincerely hope you’ll jump across to my page and become a patron. (When it goes live I’ll put a link here to make it easy.)

Here’s the odd thing though. I’m building my page, and I find that I can’t insert image files in the About section–only web links. So I’m posting the images I want to use here, so I can link to them. I’m not even sure if/how that will work, but I figure I’d better try.

Will all this prompt me to start posting in this blog more often? Who knows?

Stay tuned to find out.

In the meantime, enjoy some of the images I’ve selected as an overview of my chequered career.

For some reason I’m having problems uploading the final three images for my Patreon about page – but I’m getting nervous about losing this long, data-heavy post, so I’ll post it as is and sort the problems later.

Edit:

I eventually realised I could have just uploaded the images to my media here, I didn’t need to make an actual post, but what the hey. It was done by then.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I need tech help.

Edit #2: The Internet is working better today, so I could upload the rest of the images. Might as well post them too.
