long form fiction

Since everyone asks and I don’t mind telling, I’ll give a brief outline of the novel I’ve been writing on and off since 2010 (not unusual for a first novel of this one’s dimensions). The story centres around four rebel innocents living in Redfern in a kind of alternate present or near future, in which the black satire of political reality is driving the world toward its chaotic end. One of the four, a messianic female mystic named Jezebel, is trying to save the world – to make a difference. The rest are just trying to survive in a world where survival is increasingly challenging for everyone – but especially for people like them. The novel is called The Rod and the Rebel; it’s an exploration of faith, good and bad, and a tribute to hope and love, and a rollicking ride into the Apocalypse.
